The game with biggest result difference took place in Trier. Local Gladiators (5-8) outscored 14th ranked OrangeAcademy (3-10) 102-66 on Monday night. Gladiators dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to OrangeAcademy's 24 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded OrangeAcademy 40-20 including 27 on the defensive glass. Gladiators looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. OrangeAcademy was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Johannes Joos (206-95) fired 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Simon Schmitz (188-90) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. Naturalized Austrian point guard David Kramer (191-97) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and Hungarian point guard Marcell Pongo (194-97) added 15 points (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gladiators moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Chemnitz. OrangeAcademy lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Gladiators will face higher ranked Hamburg (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. OrangeAcademy will play against Nuernberg (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
