Regular Season Round 9: Chaika - Kyiv Basket 69-83

Undefeated leader Kyiv Basket delivered the twelfth consecutive win on Monday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Chaika (4-8) 83-69 in Berdiansk. Kyiv Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Xeniya Afanasyeva (171-93) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. Center Oksana Stepaniuk (195-95) chipped in 18 points. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. Kyiv Basket's coach Volodimir Kholopov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Olexandra Radulovich (186-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and forward Angelica Lyashko (174-0) added 29 points respectively. Kyiv Basket (12-0) have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Newly promoted Kyiv Basket maintains first place with a perfect record of 12 victories in a row. Chaika lost third consecutive game. Chaika at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Kyiv Basket are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zirka (#8) in Kherson in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chaika will play on the road against Vinnystkiye M. in Vinnytsia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
