Regular Season Round 9: Barreirense - FC Porto 80-98

Bottom-ranked Barreirense (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 98-80 loss to sixth ranked FC Porto_Ferpinta (7-4) in Barreiro on Wednesday evening. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. FC Porto Ferpinta looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Barreirense's players. American forward Will Sheehey (201-92, college: Indiana) stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 assists for the winners and American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) with 16 points and 4 assists and Montenegrin forward Miki Novovic (208-92) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for FC Porto Ferpinta. FC Porto Ferpinta moved-up to third place, which they share with Vitoria SC. Barreirense lost their eleventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 11 games lost. FC Porto Ferpinta will meet Illiabum (#5) in the next round. Barreirense's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barreiro Galitos-Barreiro.
