Regular Season Round 9: Vitoria SC - Oliveirense 73-96
Date: December 13, 2017
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Guimaraes. Second ranked Oliveirense faced 3rd placed Vitoria SC. Guests from Oliveira (9-2) smashed host Vitoria SC (7-4) 96-73. It was a good game for international forward Joao Balseiro (192-87) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. American center Eric Coleman (200-85, college: N.Iowa) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Oliveirense players scored in double figures. American guard Devaugntah Williams (193-94, college: Texas Tech) answered with 19 points and the other American import Roderick Nealy (198-80, college: Houston Baptist) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Vitoria SC. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Oliveirense. They maintain second place with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader Benfica. Vitoria SC at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with FC Porto. Oliveirense will play against Terceira (#7) in Angra Heroismo in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Vitoria SC will play at home against the league's leader Benfica (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
