Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (6-5) defeated on the road 8th ranked Braunschweig (3-7) 59-53 on Thursday. Braunschweig was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 20-11 charge of Rotenburg/Scheessel, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Braunschweig to just 5 points in second quarter. Rotenburg/Scheessel forced 23 Braunschweig turnovers. It was a good game for the former international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) who led her team to a victory with 13 points and 6 assists. American center Cassidy Clark (186, college: Truman St.) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American point guard Ariel Hearn (171-94, college: Memphis) replied with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and her fellow American import forward Brianna Wright (182-94, college: Memphis) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Braunschweig. Rotenburg/Scheessel moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Osnabruecker TB. Loser Braunschweig dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost.
