The game between third ranked Cankaya (9-4) and fifteenth ranked Fenerbahce G. (3-9) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Cankaya was crushed by Fenerbahce G. in Istanbul 89-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cankaya. They outrebounded Cankaya 39-24 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fenerbahce G. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Point guard Melisa Korkmaz (172-97) fired 27 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. International guard Pelin Bilgic (175-94, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 25 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Fenerbahce G.'s coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Vicki Baugh (193-89, college: Tennessee) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and center Derin Yaya (174-97, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) added 11 points and 12 assists respectively for lost side. Four Cankaya players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce G. moved-up to fourteenth place. Cankaya at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Bursa BSB and Edremit. Fenerbahce G. are looking forward to face higher ranked Edirne (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cankaya will play against Urla BLD (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
