Regular Season Round 13: Rocks - UBC 73-72

The most exciting game of round 13 in the 2.Bundesliga took place in Mattersburg. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked UBC St. Polten (9-3) to sixth ranked Rocks (7-5) 73-72 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of UBC St. Polten. Rocks looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by UBC St. Polten helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Canadian center Corey Hallett (210-84, college: Monmouth, agency: Athleadz) fired 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Benjamin Bernleithner (186-95) chipped in 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Rocks players scored in double figures. Rocks' coach Michael Coffin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Martin Speiser (202-83) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Lukas Boeck (184-89) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Rocks have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Raiders. UBC St. Polten at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Rocks is looking forward to face league's leader Timberwolves in Vienna in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UBC St. Polten will play at home against Worthersee Piraten and is hoping to win this game.
