Regular Season Round 12: Heidelberg - Goettingen 63-53

Date: December 16, 2017
Bottom-ranked BasCats Heidelberg managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted BasCats Heidelberg won against eleventh-ranked Goettingen 63-53. Goettingen was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 37-26 second half run of BasCats Heidelberg. They outrebounded Goettingen 44-27 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Tiffany Jones (190-91, college: Seton Hall) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import guard Ny Hammonds (165-92, college: Charlotte, agency: Two Points) supported her with 13 points and 11 assists. Four BasCats Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 9 rebounds by Trinidad and Tobago-Vincentian center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) did not help to save the game for Goettingen. American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) added 14 points. BasCats Heidelberg (3-9) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Halle. Goettingen lost third consecutive game. Goettingen at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom position with ten games lost. BasCats Heidelberg's next round opponent will be league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Goettingen will play against TV Saarlouis Royals (#9) and hope to win that game.
