Regular Season Round 10: Sanjoanense - Academico FC 76-68

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Academico FC (2-8) lost to fourth ranked Sanjoanense (6-4) in Sao Joao 68-76 on Saturday. Academico FC was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Silvio Rodrigues (184-92) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Spanish power forward Sergi Coll (204-82) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Guard Gonzalo Ranito (182-90) replied with 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Andre Dara (180-83) added 9 points in the effort for Academico FC. Academico FC's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sanjoanense have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position in North with 6-4 record. Loser Academico FC keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Sanjoanense will face league's leader Esgueira / Oli on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Academico FC will play against Sampaense (#3) in Coimbra and hope to win that game.
