Regular Season Round 13: Braunschweig - Giessen 46ers 85-96

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Giessen 46ers and 11th ranked Braunschweig had identical 5-7 record. But Braunschweig was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Giessen 96-85 on Saturday night. American center John Bryant (210-87, college: Santa Clara) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and center Mahir Agva (206-96) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the losing side American power forward Scott Eatherton (203-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Austrian point guard Thomas Klepeisz (186-91) scored 25 points. Braunschweig's coach Frank Menz tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Giessen 46ers (6-7) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Wuerzburg. Loser Braunschweig dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Giessen 46ers will face higher ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#4) in Frankfurt in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Braunschweig will play on the road against Walter Tigers (#18) in Tuebingen and hope to win that game.
