Regular Season Round 22: Zalgiris II - KTU 76-74

Fourteenth-ranked KTU (4-18) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Zalgiris II (12-10) in Kaunas. Zalgiris II managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KTU. They outrebounded KTU 30-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. Zalgiris II players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. KTU was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Erikas Venskus (203-0) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 rebounds. Ignas Sargiunas (193-99) contributed with 10 points and 6 assists for the winners. Dovydas Emeklis replied with 18 points and point guard Matas Sapiega (178-90) added 4 points and 13 assists in the effort for KTU. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zalgiris II have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Telsiai. KTU at the other side stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Zalgiris II will play against Taurages (#8) at home in the next round. KTU will play against Ereliai Mazeikiai (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
