Regular Season Round 12: Opladen - Recklinghausen 57-76

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Recklinghausen (2-9) crushed higher ranked SG BBZ Opladen (5-6) in Leverkusen 76-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Recklinghausen. SG BBZ Opladen was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SG BBZ Opladen to just 6 points in first quarter. It was a good game for Bosnian forward Lejla Bejtic (176-85) who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Kiki Robertson (170, college: Alaska-Anch.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Recklinghausen's coach Peer Reckinger used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Mareike Nettersheim (186-83) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Nicola Happel (164-92) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for SG BBZ Opladen. Newly promoted Recklinghausen maintains eleventh position in North with 2-9 record. SG BBZ Opladen lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Recklinghausen will face higher ranked Baskets Grunberg (#8) in Gruenberg in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
