Regular Season Round 12: Gruenberg - Osnabrueck SC 76-65

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Osnabrueck SC (9-2) in Gruenberg on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by tenth ranked Baskets Grunberg (4-7) 76-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Osnabrueck SC. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Baskets Grunberg dominated on the defensive end, holding Osnabrueck SC to just 6 points in third quarter. It was a good game for American forward Celia Marfone (183-94, college: Cal-Davis) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Isabell Meinhart (178-94) contributed with 19 points and 4 steals for the winners. American forward Jacinda Myers-Sanders (187, college: Arkansas Tech) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Montenegrin forward Milica Milosev (185-93, agency: BeoBasket) added 19 points in the effort for Osnabrueck SC. Four Osnabrueck SC players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baskets Grunberg moved-up to eighth place in North. Osnabrueck SC at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Baskets Grunberg are looking forward to face Recklinghausen (#11) on the road in the next round. Osnabrueck SC's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Osnabrueck Osnabruecker.
