Very expected game when 9th ranked B.Loewen (3-8) was smashed at home by third ranked TG Neuss (8-3) 78-54 on Sunday. The game without a history. TG Neuss led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a good game for power forward Jana Heinrich (188-86, college: San Diego St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American center Julia Duggan (185, college: Rider) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four TG Neuss players scored in double figures. TG Neuss' coach Janina Pils felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Lindsay Fueg (178) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Anne Storck (180-88) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for B.Loewen. TG Neuss maintains third position in North with 8-3 record behind leader Freiburg. B.Loewen lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. TG Neuss will face SG BBZ Opladen (#7) in Leverkusen in the next round. B.Loewen will play on the road against Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel and hope to win that game.
