Regular Season Round 14: Coburg - Elchingen 105-97

Very important is a road loss of first ranked Elchingen (12-2) against tenth ranked Coburg (4-10) on Sunday night. Visiting Elchingen was defeated by Coburg in a tough game in Coburg 97-105. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Elchingen. Coburg made 38-of-46 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game, while Elchingen only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Elchingen 42-31 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Coburg players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. 33 personal fouls committed by Elchingen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Byron Sanford (183-93, college: Trevecca Naz.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Jordan Burris (201-92, college: CS San Bernar.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Brian Butler (196-91) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Croatian forward Jere Vucica (206-92, college: Miami, OH, agency: Court Side) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Elchingen. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Elchingen's coach Dario Jerkic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Coburg maintains tenth position in South with 4-10 record. Elchingen at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Coburg's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Dragons Rhoendorf on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Elchingen will play against SG Schwelmer Baskets and hope to win that game.
