There was no surprise in Dresden where 7th ranked Titans (7-7) were defeated by fourth ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (9-5) 91-81 on Sunday. SG Schwelmer Baskets made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. American guard Chris Hortman (190-88, college: Wisc.-Stout) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard David Hicks (184-88, college: LIU Brooklyn) chipped in 23 points during the contest. SG Schwelmer Baskets' coach Falk Moeller used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Janek Schmidkunz (183-90, college: Amer.Internat.) responded with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Helge Baues (205-94) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted SG Schwelmer Baskets maintains fourth position in South with 9-5 record. Loser Titans keep the seventh place with seven games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face league's leader Elchingen at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
