Regular Season Round 12: Olivais - CAB Madeira 80-55

The most important game in the last round took place in Coimbra between third ranked CAB Madeira (8-4) and eleventh ranked Olivais (4-9) on Sunday night. CAB Madeira was crushed by Olivais on the road 55-80. They made 25-of-27 free shots (92.6 percent) during the game. Olivais outrebounded CAB Madeira 38-27 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by CAB Madeira helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Brazilian guard Taina Paixao (176-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Christin Mercer (185, college: Jacksonville) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Rosinha Rosario (182-89, college: Gulf Coast CC) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and international swingman Marcy Goncalves (177-90) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for CAB Madeira. Olivais moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Alges. CAB Madeira at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Olivais is looking forward to face higher ranked Benfica (#4) in Lisbona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CAB Madeira will play on the road against the league's second-placed GDESSA where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
