Very expected game in Paderborn where 12th ranked Uni Baskets (5-10) were defeated by fourth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (10-5) 73-64. MLP Academics Heidelberg forced 21 Uni Baskets turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Uni Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for swingman Shy Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Diamond Sports) who led his team to a victory with 23 points. Guard Eric Palm (188-87, college: McKendree, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with 15 points and 7 assists for the winners. Point guard Devonte Brown (188-92, college: Indiana St., agency: Slash Sports) answered with 16 points and forward Ethan O'Day (206, college: Vermont) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Uni Baskets. Four Uni Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for MLP Academics Heidelberg. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Karlsruhe PS and Koeln Rh.Stars. Uni Baskets at the other side keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will have a break next round. Uni Baskets will play again on the road against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#3) and hope to win that game.
