Regular Season Round 11: Alba Iulia - Satu Mare 85-81

The game between second ranked Satu Mare (7-3) and sixth ranked Alba Iulia (5-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Satu Mare was defeated by Alba Iulia in a tough game in Alba Iulia 81-85. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Satu Mare outrebounded Alba Iulia 37-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. American guard Ashley Morrissette (175-95, college: Purdue) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points. Her fellow American import guard Jessica January (170-95, college: De Paul) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Alba Iulia's coach Manuel A. Rodriguez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Taneisha Harrison (182-89, college: Pittsburgh) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and Lithuanian swingman Marina Solopova (182-90) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Satu Mare. Five Satu Mare players scored in double figures. Alba Iulia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Olimpia Brasov. Satu Mare at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Alexandria. Alba Iulia is looking forward to face Sirius TgM (#9) in Targu Mures in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Satu Mare will play at home against Timisoara (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
