Regular Season Round 10: Champion 2006 - Slavia 50-69

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sofia: Slavia (#2) and Champion 2006 (#4). Champion 2006 was smashed at home by 19 points 50-69 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-50. Slavia dominated on the defensive end, holding Champion 2006 to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 26 Champion 2006 turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ester Micheva (180-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 20 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. The former international guard Stefka Nikolova (173-90) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Swingman Tsvetelina Dimitrova (177-99) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and center Elena Dimova (190-0) added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Champion 2006. Newly promoted Slavia maintains second position in West with 7-2 record behind leader Montana 2003. Champion 2006 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Slavia's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sofia Levski.
