Thirteenth-ranked Istanbulgucu (3-9) used its home court advantage to challenge seventh ranked Izmit (9-5) on Saturday. The visitors from Izmit managed to secure only one-point victory 52-51. However their fans expected much easier game. Izmit forced 24 Istanbulgucu turnovers. American forward Arhonda Covington (185-85, college: Louisville) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Ebru Torun (-87, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) supported her with 7 points. Izmit will meet at home Fenerbahce G. (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbulgucu will play against Bayrakli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
