Regular Season Round 11: Bornova - Botas 51-98

Bottom-ranked Bornova is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to sixth ranked Botas (7-4) 98-51 on Saturday evening. Botas dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Bornova's 28. Botas forced 19 Bornova turnovers and outrebounded them 53-31 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Bornova's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Botas made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American center Kiah Stokes (190-93, college: Connecticut) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. Belarusian forward Maryia Papova (189-94) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Botas players scored in double figures. Guard Sebnem Ozcelik (168-83) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Australian forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley, agency: Lebedintsev Andriy) added 13 points respectively for Bornova in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Botas. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Abdullah Gul. Bornova lost their eleventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Botas will meet at home Istanbul Uni (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bornova will play against Cukurova in Mersin and hopes to get finally their first victory.
