An interesting game for Balkan (7-2) which played road game in Sofia against second-ranked Lukoil Acad. (6-2). Third ranked Balkan managed to get a 8-point victory 99-91. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lukoil Acad.. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 55-46 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Balkan made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. The former international swingman Hristo Zahariev (197-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 6 rebounds. American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) answered with 22 points and 5 assists and the former international Pavlin Ivanov (195-93, agency: BeoBasket) added 11 points in the effort for Lukoil Acad.Four Lukoil Acad. players scored in double figures. Lukoil Acad.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Balkan moved-up to second place. Defending champion Lukoil Acad. dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Balkan are looking forward to face Cherno More (#8) in Varna in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lukoil Acad. will have a break next round.
