Date: December 23, 2017
Bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their tenth consecutive match to eighth ranked Yambol (3-7) 91-77 on Saturday evening. Yambol dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 30. They outrebounded Spartak Pleven 37-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Yambol looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Spartak Pleven's players. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Alan Arnett (196, college: Georgia SW) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Bryquis Perine (190-88, college: Green Bay, agency: Promotex) accounted for 21 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side. Four Yambol players scored in double figures. Yambol's coach Ivan Cholakov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Gerasim Nikolov (188-93) came up with 23 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Nikolay Marinov (174-94) added 22 points respectively for Spartak Pleven in the defeat. Yambol moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Cherno More. Loser Spartak Pleven still closes the standings with ten games lost. Yambol will meet at home higher ranked Beroe (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak Pleven will play against the league's leader Levski 2014 and will have a slim chance for a victory.
