Regular Season Round 11: Istanbul Univ. - Hatay 64-100
Date: December 23, 2017
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Hatay (10-1) crushed on the road 13th ranked Istanbul Uni (1-10) 100-64. Hatay dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Uni's 32. It was a great shooting night for Hatay especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was Belgian point guard Hind Ben-Abdelkader (172-95, college: California) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) chipped in 15 points. Four Hatay players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American center Aisha Mohammed (191-85, college: Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and international center Ilayda Guner (186-99, agency: LBM Management) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Hatay. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce and Yakin Dogu. Istanbul Uni lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Hatay's next round opponent will be Besiktas (#6) in Istanbul which should be theoretically another easy game. Istanbul Uni will play on the road against Botas (#5) in Adana and hope to win that game.
