Regular Season Round 16: Trier - Crailsheim 76-70

Top ranked Crailsheim Merlins (14-2) recorded its second loss in Trier on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Gladiators (8-8) 76-70. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Crailsheim Merlins. Point guard Simon Schmitz (188-90) fired 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Jamaican-Canadian forward Jermaine Bucknor (201-83, college: Richmond) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. The former international forward Konrad Wysocki (202-82, college: Princeton) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) added 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gladiators have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Kirchheim. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. Gladiators is looking forward to face OrangeAcademy (#14) in Ulm in the next round where they are favorite. Crailsheim Merlins will play at home against Kirchheim Knights (#9) and are hoping to win this game.
