Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Mersin: Mersin MBK (#4) and Mersin Uni (#10). Mersin Uni was crushed at home by 17 points 61-78 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Mersin MBK forced 19 Mersin Uni turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for forward Asli Sevinc (178-79, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Guard Ilknur Dumlu (176-89, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) helped adding 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Mersin MBK's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Pinar Turan (170-82) with 13 points and 9 rebounds and American center Candice Agee (198-94, college: Penn St.) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Mersin MBK. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Osmaniye. Loser Mersin Uni keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Mersin MBK will face league's leader Bodrum at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mersin Uni will play against Elazig (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
