An exciting game was played in Kaunas. Second ranked Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas faced 4th ranked Fortuna. Host Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (11-2) smashed guests from Klaipeda (6-7) 91-55. The game without a history. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Fortuna's 38 and made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 21 Fortuna turnovers and outrebounded them 41-18 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Livija Sakeviciute (188-99) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Dovile Saurazaite (174-92) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas players scored in double figures. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas' coach Mantas Sernius felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Andra Gabalyte (179-80, college: Liberty) replied with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Sandra Baliutaviciute (182-81) added 19 points in the effort for Fortuna. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas maintains second position with 11-2 record behind leader Suduva. Fortuna at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fortuna will play on the road against Vilkmerge (#6) in Ukmerge and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
