The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Mersin Uni's (7-9) road loss to ninth ranked Elazig (8-7) 74-88 on Saturday. Elazig looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and point guard Esen Ozdemir (-89) who added 11 points and 12 assists during the contest. Elazig's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American center Candice Agee (198-94, college: Penn St.) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Nazli Guler (184-82, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Mersin Uni players scored in double figures. Elazig maintains ninth position with 8-7 record. Mersin Uni lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with nine games lost. Elazig will face league's leader Bodrum on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mersin Uni will play against the league's second-placed Edremit (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
