An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Istanbul. Third ranked Yakin Dogu faced their biggest opponent Hatay. Host Yakin Dogu (12-1) defeated guests from Hatay (11-2) 96-78. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hatay. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Yakin Dogu dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hatay's 36. They outrebounded Hatay 43-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Yakin Dogu players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Hungarian-American point guard Courtney Vandersloot (173-89, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 assists. International point guard Olcay Cakir (182-93, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. Naturalized American swingman Bahar Ozturk (183-84, college: Connecticut, agency: 1x1 Sports) answered with 27 points and 4 assists and American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) added 10 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Hatay. Five Yakin Dogu and four Hatay players scored in double figures. Hatay's coach Katerina Hatzidaki rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Yakin Dogu have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce. Hatay at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Yakin Dogu will play against Botas (#4) in Adana in the next round. Hatay will play at home against Adana ASKI and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
