There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Cuxhaven (4-11) beat at home 9th ranked Oldenburg (6-9) 83-75 on Saturday. Cuxhaven forced 20 Oldenburg turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Moritz Huebner (200-97) who scored 21 points and 7 assists. Center Florian Wendeler (205-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Philip Zwiener (201-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Bosnian point guard Robert Drijencic (190-96) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oldenburg's coach Artur Gacaev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Cuxhaven maintains eleventh place in North with 4-11 record. Loser Oldenburg keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Cuxhaven will face higher ranked SC Rist Wedel (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
