Regular Season Round 13: Bornova - Canik Belediye 69-145

Bottom-ranked Bornova (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 145-69 loss to tenth ranked Canik Belediye (6-7) in Bornova. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Bornova's 52. Canik Belediye forced 32 Bornova turnovers and outrebounded them 55-37 including a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Canik Belediye players were unselfish on offense dishing 44 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Bornova's players. Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-85, college: USC) nailed 50 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American power forward Avery Warley (190-87, college: Liberty) accounted for 30 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Australian forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley, agency: Lebedintsev Andriy) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Sumeyya Ozcan (, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) added 12 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively for Bornova in the defeat. Bornova's coach Ceyhun Yildizoglu gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Canik Belediye moved-up to second place, which they share with Galatasaray. Bornova lost their thirteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Canik Belediye's next round opponent will be Istanbul Uni (#6) on the road. Bornova will play against Abdullah Gul and hopes to get finally their first victory.
