Very predictable result when second ranked Crailsheim Merlins (15-2) won against at home 9th ranked Kirchheim Knights (8-9) 95-84 on Saturday. Crailsheim Merlins looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Kirchheim Knights' players. American point guard Frank Turner (178-88, college: Canisius, agency: Inception Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international forward Konrad Wysocki (202-82, college: Princeton) contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Tuomas Iisalo used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Andreas Kronhardt (205-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American swingman Elijah Allen (195-89, college: NW Missouri St.) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Kirchheim Knights. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Crailsheim Merlins maintains second place with 15-2 record having just one point less than leader Vechta. Loser Kirchheim Knights dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face Phoenix Hagen (#6) on the road in the next round. Kirchheim Knights will play against Karlsruhe PS and hope to win that game.
