Regular Season Round 13: Istanbul Univ. - Cukurova 66-85

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Cukurova (7-6) smashed on the road 13th ranked Istanbul Uni (1-12) 85-66 on Saturday. Cukurova forced 22 Istanbul Uni turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Her fellow American import guard Diamond Deshields (185-95, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Cukurova players scored in double figures. Romanian forward Claudia Pop (182-89, agency: ProDep Management) produced 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian-American center Aisha Mohammed (191-85, college: Virginia) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cukurova keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Istanbul Uni lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth place with 12 games lost. Cukurova will face league's leader Besiktas in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Istanbul Uni will play at home against the league's second-placed Canik Belediye (#2) and hope to win that game.
