There was no surprise in Istanbul where 10th ranked Galatasaray (5-9) was crushed by seventh ranked Banvit (8-6) 91-72 on Sunday. Banvit dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Galatasaray's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tony Taylor (185-90, college: G.Washington) who scored 25 points and 5 assists. American-Italian Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Banvit's coach Saso Filipovski used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American-Bosnian point guard Alex Renfroe (191-86, college: Belmont, agency: BeoBasket) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Emir Preldzic (206-87, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Banvit have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Sakarya BSB. Galatasaray lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with nine games lost. Banvit will face Pinar Karsiyaka (#12) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Anadolu Efes.
