There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Braunschweig (4-7) defeated on the road 4th placed Rotenburg/Scheessel (6-6) 61-52 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 35-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Braunschweig forced 20 Rotenburg/Scheessel turnovers. American point guard Ariel Hearn (171-94, college: Memphis) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and forward Lyndi Laborn (190-90, college: UTSA) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American swingman Shaniqua Nilles (183-93, college: Gonzaga) responded with 21 points and the other American import center Cassidy Clark (186, college: Truman St.) scored 13 points. Rotenburg/Scheessel's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Braunschweig moved-up to eighth place in North. Loser Rotenburg/Scheessel dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Braunschweig will face league's leader Osnabrueck SC at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
