Regular Season Round 11: Interkhim - Rivne 79-67

The game between Top Four teams took place in Odessa. Second ranked host Interkhim (13-2) defeated 3rd placed Rivne (8-9) 79-67. The game was mostly controlled by Interkhim. Rivne was better in third quarter 21-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rivne 40-24 including a 33-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Interkhim shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Rivne's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for international center Kristina Karp (196-98) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists. Swingman Yulia Musienko (177-97) accounted for 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Interkhim players scored in double figures. Interkhim's coach Iryna Shchipakina allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Viktoriya Kasatkina (187-92) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Viktoriya Shmatova added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Rivne in the defeat. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Interkhim. They maintain second place with 13-2 record having four points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Rivne at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Interkhim will play against HAI (#6) in Kharkiv in the next round. Rivne will play at home against the league's leader Kyiv Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
