Regular Season Round 13: Zolotoi Vek - Mariupol 104-86

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Mariupol (6-7) lost to second ranked Zolotoi Vek (10-3) in Kirovograd 86-104 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-86. Zolotoi Vek dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Mariupol's 44 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Mariupol 41-21 including a 21-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zolotoi Vek looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Mariupol's players. It was a very good performance for forward Olexandr Drobiazko (200-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Power forward Vyacheslav Motorchuk (208-92) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Zolotoi Vek players scored in double figures. Guard Kirilo Zuev (196-93) answered with 27 points and 6 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and guard Vladyslav Ryzhov (190-94) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Mariupol. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zolotoi Vek have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader Dinamo. Loser Mariupol keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Zolotoi Vek will face again Mariupol (#5) at home in the next round.
