There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Nuernberg (7-10) beat at home higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (10-8) 78-72 on Saturday. Nuernberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso, agency: Athleadz) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Moritz Sanders (211-98) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Nuernberg's coach Ralph Junge used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was guard Niklas Wuerzner (196-94) with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and American guard Eric Palm (188-87, college: McKendree, agency: Slash Sports) scored 17 points. Nuernberg have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place. MLP Academics Heidelberg lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Nuernberg will face OrangeAcademy (#14) in Ulm in the next round. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play at home against Phoenix Hagen (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
