Regular Season Round 14: CSU Sibiu - BC Timisoara 81-73

Date: January 13, 2018
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked CSU Sibiu as it allowed them to take a leadership position. CSU Sibiu defeated 3rd ranked BC Timisoara at home 81-73. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-13. But BC Timisoara won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by BC Timisoara helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Monyea Pratt (196-85, college: Stillman, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. The other American import forward Lawrence Kinnard (203-86, college: UAB) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four CSU Sibiu players scored in double figures. International point guard Octavian Calota (189-84) replied with 21 points and Serbian guard Mladen Jeremic (198-88, agency: 011 Sports) added 14 points in the effort for BC Timisoara. BC Timisoara's coach Tudor Costescu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. BC Timisoara at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Pitesti. BC Timisoara will play next round against CS Dinamo Bucuresti trying to get back on the winning streak. CSU Sibiu will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked UBT Cluj Napoca on the road.
