The game in Istanbul was also quite interesting. Second ranked Canik Belediye (7-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Istanbul Uni (1-13). Canik Belediye did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 73-56 on Saturday. Canik Belediye dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Uni's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-85, college: USC) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Avery Warley (190-87, college: Liberty) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Four Canik Belediye players scored in double figures. Romanian forward Claudia Pop (182-89, agency: ProDep Management) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and Nigerian-American center Aisha Mohammed (191-85, college: Virginia) added 7 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Istanbul Uni's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Canik Belediye maintains second position with 7-7 record having six points less than leader Cukurova, which they share with Besiktas. Istanbul Uni lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with 13 games lost. Canik Belediye will face Besiktas (#3) in Istanbul in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Istanbul Uni will play on the road against the league's leader Abdullah Gul (#1) in Kayseri and hope to win that game.
