Regular Season Round 15: Piraten - Timberwolves 62-89

2.Bundesliga top team - Timberwolves (15-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Worthersee Piraten (0-15) in Klagenfurt 89-62. Timberwolves forced 22 Worthersee Piraten turnovers. Strangely Worthersee Piraten outrebounded Timberwolves 40-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Worthersee Piraten's players. It was a quality performance for point guard Laurence Mueller (178-94) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 6 assists and 6 steals. Bosnian forward Nemanja Nikolic (202-89) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Timberwolves players scored in double figures. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Lukas Simoner (190-99) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Jan Apschner added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Worthersee Piraten in the defeat. Timberwolves have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-0 record. Worthersee Piraten at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Timberwolves will play against league's second-placed UBC St. Polten in St.Polten in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Worthersee Piraten will play on the road against Blackbirds (#7) in Jennersdorf and hopes to get finally their first victory.
