Regular Season Round 18: Furstenfeld - Gmunden 101-77

Round 18 in A Bundesliga means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Furstenfeld where host Furstenfeld Panthers (5-11) crushed league's leader Gmunden Swans (12-4) 101-77 on Sunday evening. Furstenfeld Panthers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Gmunden Swans' 36 and made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Gmunden Swans 34-20 including a 27-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Furstenfeld Panthers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Croatian Marko Car (188-85) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Wesley Gordon (206-94, college: Colorado) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Furstenfeld Panthers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Enis Murati (194-88, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 24 points and Lithuanian center Povilas Gaidys (208-91, college: Southeastern, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) respectively. Gmunden Swans' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Furstenfeld Panthers maintains eighth position with 5-11 record. Gmunden Swans lost third consecutive game. They still keep top place with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Kapfenberg who have the same record. Gmunden Swans will play next round against Dukes trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Furstenfeld Panthers will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Arkadia Lions in Traiskirchen.
