Regular Season Round 16: Oberhaching - Vilsbiburg 90-66

The biggest surprise took place in Deisenhofen where host Oberhaching (12-2) crushed league's leader Vilsbiburg (11-3) 90-66 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in South-East. Oberhaching dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vilsbiburg's 30. They outrebounded Vilsbiburg 34-21 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Czech point guard John Boyer (185-88, college: Buffalo, agency: Dynamics Global Management) fired 18 points and 8 assists for the winners. Center Moritz Wohlers (203-84, college: Mont.St.-Billings) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Boyer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Josef Leierseder (184-96) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Oberhaching and four Vilsbiburg players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Oberhaching have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They keep a position of South-East leader. Vilsbiburg at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Treuchtlingen and Gotha II. They were replaced at the leadership position by Grevenbroich. Vilsbiburg will play next round against Bamberg trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Oberhaching will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked GGZ Baskets in Zwickau.
