There was no surprise when 7th ranked Gunners Oberwart (6-10) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Vienna (9-7) 81-73 on Sunday. Vienna made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Gunners Oberwart outrebounded Vienna 49-35 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Reger Dowell (185-91, college: Texas Arlington) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Denzel Gregg (201, college: St.Bonaventure) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Benjamin Blazevic (204-95) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vienna have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Wels. Loser Gunners Oberwart keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Vienna will meet at home Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (#4) in the next round. Gunners Oberwart will have a break next round.
