Regular Season Round 15: Olimpia Brasov - Satu Mare 70-62

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Satu Mare (10-4) against fourth ranked Olimpia Brasov (8-5) on Wednesday night. Visiting Satu Mare was defeated by Olimpia Brasov in a tough game in Brasov 62-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Satu Mare. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-6. But Satu Mare won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpia Brasov dominated on the defensive end, holding Satu Mare to just 6 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was American guard Aliyyah Handford (175-94, college: St.John's) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian Biljana Pesovic (180-83) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Taneisha Harrison (182-89, college: Pittsburgh) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Andra-Simina Mandache (185-81) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Satu Mare players scored in double figures. Olimpia Brasov have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Alexandria. Satu Mare at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Olimpia Brasov will meet league's leader Sf.Gheorghe in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Satu Mare will have a break next round.
