Regular Season Round 19: Aistes-LSU - Sirenos 43-68

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kaunas: Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#2) and Aistes-LSU (#4). Aistes-LSU was crushed at home by 25 points 43-68 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aistes-LSU. The game without a history. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aistes-LSU to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Aistes-LSU 48-26 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Livija Sakeviciute (188-99) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. International guard Dovile Saurazaite (174-92) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Coach Mantas Sernius's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Akvile Baronenaite (185-93) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Gintare Jasiunskaite (182-94) added 11 points in the effort for Aistes-LSU. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva. Aistes-LSU at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas will play against league's leader Suduva in Marijampole in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aistes-LSU will play at home against Kibirkstis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
