Regular Season Round 18: EWE Baskets - Braunschweig 86-84

Date: January 20, 2018
Thirteenth-ranked Braunschweig (7-11) was very close to win a game against eighth ranked EWE Baskets (11-7) in Oldenburg. EWE Baskets managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket) scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Armani Moore (193-94, college: Tennessee, agency: 3Eye) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Scott Eatherton (203-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds and his fellow American import guard DeAndre Lansdowne (187-89, college: Fort Lewis) scored 24 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Braunschweig's coach Frank Menz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. EWE Baskets moved-up to sixth place. Braunschweig at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. EWE Baskets will play against Giessen 46ers (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Braunschweig will play against Oettinger Rockets Gotha and hopes to get back on the winning track.
