There was a surprise result when ninth ranked FC Bayern II (7-9) beat on the road higher ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (9-8) 80-62 on Saturday. FC Bayern II dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to SG Schwelmer Baskets' 24. They outrebounded SG Schwelmer Baskets 37-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Karim Jallow (199-97) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Austrian forward Marvin Ogunsipe (204-96) chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Mathias Perl (188-89, agency: Athleadz) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Croatian power forward Sasha Cuic (208-83, college: Oregon St.) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. FC Bayern II maintains ninth place in South with 7-9 record. SG Schwelmer Baskets lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the fifth position with eight games lost. FC Bayern II will face league's second-placed Dragons Rhoendorf at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play against Iserlohn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
