Very important is a road loss of first ranked Elchingen (14-3) against fourth ranked Giessen 46ers II (10-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Elchingen was defeated by Giessen 46ers II in a tough game in Giessen 70-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Elchingen. Giessen 46ers II looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Elchingen was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Dennis Mavin (190-91, college: FIU) stepped up and scored 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and point guard Bjarne Kraushaar (191-99) chipped in 9 points and 9 assists. Filmore Beck (192-91) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Gregory Graves (201-93, college: Mt.St.Mary's) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Elchingen players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers II maintains fourth place in South with 10-6 record. Loser Elchingen still keeps top position with three games lost. Giessen 46ers II will face Karlsruhe SC (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elchingen will play against Wuerzburg (#10) and hope to win that game.
